About me

M V Ananthakrishna (Ananth) obtained an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1981-83) and a First Class Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from Guindy Engineering College (1980), University of Madras.

Ananth has worked both in the USA and India. After his MBA he worked as a consultant for the Environmental Protection Agency in the US. He returned to India to set up the Design Automation Center for Texas Instruments Inc. USA in Bangalore. After setting up this design center in record time he joined M K Raju Consultants Private Limited (MKRC). He is currently Executive Director.

Ananth has worked on prestigious assignments such as turn around of LML scooters and Restructuring of IOB. He has done extensive consulting all over India and in South East Asia. His specialization includes Computer Information Systems, Turnaround Strategy, Corporate Strategy, Monitoring Sick Companies, Cost Improvement Programs, Executive Information Systems, computer aided Financial Analysis and Energy Strategy for Onsite Power Generation.

Ananth is in charge of Energy Management / CHP Division in MKRC as Executive Director. The Energy Division in MKRC has carried out preliminary and in-depth studies in over 500 units, covering a wide range of industries in India and abroad. MKRC has identified a massive 20% savings worth Rs.2 Billion (US$50 Million) recurring annually. The CHP Division Completed over 100 pre feasibility CHP studies and 12 detailed studies including a Front End Design. MKRC has implemented six CHP projects totalling to 121 MWe achieving a savings of Rs.1 Billion (US$25 Million). In addition Ananth did a Macro Study of the CHP Potential in Tamil Nadu for the State Government and study to identify 20 companies with over 20 MWe CHP potential for a multinational in Chennai.

Ananth is currently actively involved in developing Renewable Energy Projects, using a fully computerized, multi-fuel, scalable (1MWe to 20 MWe), biomass gasification technology from USA in the areas of industrial waste to energy, fossil fuel substitution and rural electrification. Ananth is currently working on an interesting Renewable Energy project: A paper plant generates 121 tonnes of waste (Bamboo Dust and lops & tops) per day. A feasibility study to gasify the waste (5 TPH) in a gasifier reveals that by gasifying the waste 30 KL / day of Furnace Oil or Rs.1868 lacs can be saved per annum with an attractive payback of 9 months with Depreciation benefits not taking into account the CDM benefits 30,000 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide per year.

Ananth is an Active Member of the Rotary Club of Madras. He is the Chairman of Institute of Management Consultants, Chennai Chapter, Member of the Executive Committees of Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is a Certified Management Consultant and has travelled extensively in India as well as abroad. He visited USA, Canada, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.

Ananth enjoys playing squash, chess, reading, listening to classical music and playing the Veena.
